Students gathered outside Hatton City Hall to request that Big Green reopened for their annual end of the year celebration. A tradition that has persisted for the last seventy years, this dinner and showcase is meant to be a send-off for young adults leaving home for the first time. However, due to planned construction on the field, it has been closed off for public use.
Over fifty students gathered in Town Square Tuesday morning, carrying signs with written messages saying "Save Big Green" and "Get Off Our Field." As the day went on, more supporters showed up to take part in the protest.
As the Big Green has been purchased by an unknown entity and is under the supervision of the Bear Building Corporation, it is out of the hands of Mayor Allison Dubois to reopen Big Green for public use. The protest continued for the duration of City Hall's working hours. The results of this gathering have yet to be announced.

Mayor Dubois plans to meet with Bear Building and the unknown buyer on Friday to discuss the possibility of reopening Big Green for a limited time.
