As of January 16th, 2020, the Big Green located in downtown Hatton was officially bought. The once open field is fenced off with orange construction netting, and a sign stands at the street corner claiming the area as private property.

Bear Building, the construction company responsible for closing off the area, have been out of reach for the past five days. After conversation with Hatton's Parks Department, it is known that the plans for the field are confidential. Janet Lawson has said no one in the department is "at liberty to reveal the current plans for the field."

What is known is that Hatton's biggest gathering space is essentially gone. From now on, the city will have to look elsewhere to hold events such as concerts, festivals, and holidays. However, with the largest venue now purchased, the number of events will surely go down, which will also mean quite a large hit to Hatton's economy. Hatton will have to find a new way to replace that revenue.
