Big Green in Danger

Something incredible has happened. Incredible in a bad way! On Monday, a fence was put up around the Big Green with a sign restricting access to the area. Apparently some big company is renovating the field. No doubt turning it into another apartment complex or big super store.

I've been going to the Big Green since I was three. I probably spent my entire childhood rolling around in the grass. Every Easter. Every Fourth of July. Every Summer.

Now someone has come and bought it without anyone noticing. And I mean no one. I've asked my parents, teachers, local employees. Nothing. They barely even knew the fence was up. I want to find out what is going on.

I know I'm not the only one. The Big Green is a cornerstone in Hatton. It's an important part of the community that is pretty much irreplaceable. Where will we watch fireworks if it's gone. Hold seasonal festivals? Fundraisers?
